AVIATION/ AIR LABRADOR CARAVAN ROLLS OFF RUNWAY IN CANADA

An AIR LABRADOR Cessna 208 Caravan suffered minor damage when the aircraft rolled off the runway upon landing yesterday in Postville, Newfoundland, Canada. No one onboard was injured. The Airline's president said the cargo plane landed safely at 1:20pm, but something went wrong while it was rolling on the runway. "A braking issue is something that we're looking at," he said. "While the runway surface is solid in the centre of the runway where the planes land, towards the sides of the runway it's quite soft and, no doubt, that contributed to the aircraft going off to the side of the runway". The RCMP is also investigating the incident. Transport Canada and the Canadian Transportation Safety Board were also notified of the accident.
