Air traffic over northern Germany and the rest of Europe is returning to normal after being disrupted by volcanic ash from Iceland. Planes are again taking off and landing in Berlin, Hamburg and Bremen, after they were closed for several hours earlier today. About 700 flights had been cancelled in Germany today. There are no other flight restrictions within Europe, according to Eurocontrol. Aiports in Scotland and the UK are also returning to normal today. Meanwhile, the activity at Iceland's Grimsvotn volcano, which erupted at the weekend, appears to have stopped. The volcano began erupting last Saturday, sending clouds of ash high into the air. But the volcano, pictured today, appeared to have stopped emitting ash early this morning, said the Icelandic Meteorological Office.
