AVIATION/ AIR NASCA CESSNA CRASHES IN PERU
All 6 passengers and crew onboard an AIR NASCA Cessna 185 were killed yesterday when the aircraft crashed shortly after takeoff near the Nazca Lines, 285 miles south of Lima, Peru. The Cessna had taken off from Maria Reiche Airport with 4 British tourists and 2 Pilots onboard for an aerial tour of the Nazca Lines. According to media reports from Lima, the Pilots declared an emergency moments after takeoff, reporting engine failure. Local firefighters said that the crew, unable to return to the Airport, attempted an emergency landing in a field, however it struck part of a root sticking out of the ground and crashed at 4:15pm. Peruvian aviation officials have launched an investigation into the crash. This is the 2nd fatal crash near the Nazca Lines this year. On February 25, all 7 people onboard a NAZCA AIRLINES Cessna were killed when that jet went down shortly after takeoff for a tourist flight over the Nazca Lines. The Nazca Lines are designs etched the desert some 2500 years ago by a pre-Inca civilization that are best seen from the air.
