*The United Arab Emirates' new aerobatic display team is on track to achieve operational status next year, following the completion of training activities being conducted in Italy. 8 fighter Pilots from the UAE air force have been following a dedicated training course since July 2009 under the supervision of instructor Pilots from the Italian air force's Frecce Tricolori team, based at Udine-Rivolto air base. The Pilots are receiving instruction on Italian air force Alenia Aermacchi MB-339A advanced jet trainers: the same type that will be used by its "Al Fursan" (The Knights) team. Alenia Aermacchi has recently completed work in the UAE to upgrade the air force's 6 legacy MB-339As for the aerobatic display role. Another 4 ex-Italian air force examples are being completed at the Finmeccanica company's facilities in Italy, and will carry the team's distinctive black and gold livery.
*FRONTIER AIRLINES Flight 64, on International Service from Puerto Vallerta, Mexico, to Denver, Colorado, was held at the gate upon arrival in Denver, yesterday, October 1. According to media reports, a child showed symptoms of a "potentially contagious disease" while enroute. Upon arrival in Denver, paramedics boarded the aircraft and examined the child. Denver officials said the child may have hand, foot and mouth disease, which is contagious, but not serious. Officials from the CDC collected information from all passengers and crew onboard and will monitor for any possible symptoms.

*CORENDON AIR Flight 603, on International Boeing 737 Service from Dalaman, Turkey, to Amsterdam, The Netherlands, with 167 passengers and 6 crew members onboard, overran the runway upon landing in Amsterdam, yesterday, October 2. Upon landing in Amsterdam in light drizzle, the 737 overran the end of the runway 22 and came to a stop with the nose gear in muddy soft ground. No one onboard was injured and the aircraft suffered no damage. Runway 22 was closed 8 hours until the 737 could be towed to a nearby hanger.

*AIR SEYCHELLES Flight 7, on International Boeing 767 Service from Paris, France, to Mahe Island, Seychelles, had to make an emergency return, on Friday, October 1. While inflight at 33000 feet, in French airspace and near Geneva, Switzerland, the crew declared PAN PAN PAN due to oil pressure problems in the left hand engine. The crew reported they had shut the engine down and requested return to Paris. The crew then began to dump fuel and landed back at Charles de Gaulle without incident, about 1.5 hours after their initial departure. The 767 was removed from service for repairs.
*VUELING Flight 3044, on Domestic A320 Service from Sevilla, Spain, to Las Palmas, CI, Spain, had to make an emergency return, on Friday, October 1. The crew leveled off at 22400 feet and requested return due to an unspecified technical problem. The A320 landed back at Sevilla without incident, about 30 minutes after its initial departure. The aircraft was removed from service for inspection and repair.
*EMIRATES Flight 743, on International A340 Service from Khartoum, Sudan, to Dubai, UAE, was damaged before takeoff, on Friday, October 1. The A340 was at the gate at Khartoum and had already boarded all passengers, and was preparing for departure. According to media reports, a wing of a KLM A330 that was passing by, struck the tail of the Emirates airliner. No one onboard the aircraft was injured. The A340 was removed from service for a full damage assessment, however officials said the damage appeared to be minor. KLM released no information on the status of its aircraft.
