US NEWS/ SEARCH CONTINUES IN SAN BRUNO
Officials in San Bruno, California, are sifting thru the ashes searching for more victims from the Thursday evening gas blast that killed at least 4. Last night, the San Bruno Police Department revised the death toll and said 7 people had been killed in the blast and another 6 were listed as missing. But this morning, a city spokesman said only 4 people are confirmed dead but that additional skeletal remains have been found. The San Mateo County Coroner announced that additional remains had been found in the blast zone and that county coroner's employees were in the process of conducting forensic tests on them. Some residents that had been evacuated after the blast were allowed to return home today, while others with homes in areas most devastated by the explosion of the natural gas line would not be allowed back yet. The NTSB is the lead agency on an investigation that will also include Pacific Gas & Electric, which owns and operates the 30-inch-diameter pipeline; the federal Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration; and the California Public Utilities Commission.
