AVIATION/ LIGHTNING STRIKE TO EMIRATES A380 CAPTURED

An amateur photographer captured this spectacular shot of an EMIRATES Airbus A380 being struck by lightning as it came in for landing at London Heathrow last month. The A380, inbound from Dubai, landed without incident. None of the over 500 passengers and crew onboard were injured and the Airbus was not damaged. Manufacturers make aircraft capable of withstanding a lightning strike and protecting those inside. The plane's body must contain metal, so it can act as a conductor, allowing the electricity to pass through it.
