AVIATION/ VISION DORNIER SLIDES OFF LOUISVILLE RUNWAY
No one onboard a VISION AIRLINES Dornier D328 was injured when it suffered a runway excursion during an emergency landing last evening in Louisville, Kentucky. Flight 304 was on Domestic Service from Atlanta, Georgia, to Louisville, Kentucky, with 21 passengers and crew onboard. While on approach to Louisville, the crew declared an emergency, reporting hyrdaulics problems. The crew brought the aircraft in for a low pass over the Airport to verify the gear was down, before coming in for a landing on the runway 35L. As the Dornier rolled out, it veered to the left and came to a stop about 5500 feet down the runway, with all gear on soft ground. In a brief statement, Vision Airlines said while slowing down on the runway, the aircraft veered off the runway due to the lack of nose gear steering. The Dornier reportedly suffered only minor damage in the incident and is undergoing a damage assessment today. The NTSB is investigating.
