AVIATION/ SKYBAHAMAS SAAB DAMAGED IN NASSAU


A SKYBAHAMAS AIRLINES Saab 340A suffered substantial damages in an incident on the ground at Nassau, Bahamas, on Thursday, January 7. According to media reports, 2 crew members were onboard the Saab preparing for a scheduled departure to Marsh Harbour, when the undercarriage retracted while the aircraft was on the apron. The crew members were not injured in the incident and passengers had yet to board the Saab. In a statement, the President and CEO of SkyBahamas stressed that his aircraft and the aviation industry in the country are both safe. "We do everything every day to make sure that not only our passengers but we are safe every day, every flight. We have done a lot of flights over the years safely," he said. In keeping with requirements of the Bahamas Aviation Safety Regulations, the Civil Aviation Department has begun an investigation into the incident.
