AVIATION/ CAA 727 CRASH PHOTOS RELEASED
Photographs have been released of the COMPAGNIE AFRICAINE AVIATION Boeing 727 that was involved in a mishap on January 2. On that date, the CAA airliner was on a Domestic Cargo Flight from Kinshasa to Kananga, Democratic Republic of Congo. Shortly after takeoff from Kinshasa, in heavy rain, the crew declared an emergency reporting a hyrdaulics problem. Upon touching down on the runway, which reportedly had standing water on it, the 727 veered left off the runway and came to a stop in soft ground. No one onboard was injured, however the aircraft suffered substantial damages and will need to be written off. It is not known what type of investigation the Government of the DRC is conducting.
