AVIATION/ UNIVERSAL AIRLINES DC6 CRASH LANDS IN ALASKA

A UNIVERSAL AIRLINES Cargo DC6 suffered substantial damages in a crash landing yesterday in Cold Bay, Alaska. Both crew members onboard escaped without injury. According to brief media reports, the DC6 was enroute to Cold Bay to pick up fresh salmon and apparently landed with the landing gear retracted. Neither the FAA or Alaskan media reported if the gear failed to deploy, or if the crew failed to lower the gear prior to landing. Investigators have been dispatched to Cold Bay to begin the probe in the accident.
