AVIATION/ AIR CHARTER SERVICES PILATUS CRASHES IN INDIA
All 7 passengers and crew onboard an AIR CHARTER SERVICES Pilatus PC12, along with 3 people on the ground, were killed when the aircraft went down last evening in Faridabad, India. The PC12 was on Ambulance Service from Patna Airport to Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, India, when the accident took place. Onboard was a 20 year old critically ill and comatose man, along with 2 doctors, 2 nurse attendants and the Pilot and Co-Pilot. The patient was being transported from a hospital in Patna to the Apollo Hospital in Delhi. According to Delhi Airport, the aircraft went out of control around 10:35pm and nosedived from a height of about 8000 feet, about 15 minutes prior to its scheduled landing in Delhi. There was strong gusty winds from a duststorm at the time of the crash. The Pilatus crashed into 2 houses in a densely-populated residential area in Faridabad and burst into flames, killing all onboard and 3 women inside one of the houses. Investigators from India's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) are on scene and have opened a full investigation. The DGCA said the weather appeared to be a major factor in the crash.
