MUSIC/ GAGA'S "BORN" IS RELEASED: Lady Gaga released her new single "Born This Way" this morning at 6:00am. It also became available on iTunes later in the morning. Lyrics include, ""Don't be a drag, be a queen/ Whether you're broke or evergreen/ You're black, white, beige, chola descent/ You're Lebanese, You're Orient/ Whether life's disabilities/ Left you outcast, bullied or teased/ Rejoice and love yourself today/ 'Cause baby you we're born this way/ No matter gay, straight, or bi/ Lesbian, transgendered life/ I'm on the right track baby/ I was born to survive/ No matter black, white or beige/ Chola or Orient made/ I'm on the right track baby/ I was born to be brave". The track is written by Gaga, and co-produced by her, Fernando Garibay and DJ White Shadow. "Born This Way" appears on the album of the same name, due out in May.

FILM/ "TUPAC" SET TO LENS: Morgan Creek’s biopic "Tupac" about the late 90s rapper, will begin shooting late spring/early summer, the film studio announced yesterday. Directed by Antoine Fuqua ("Training Day"), the film will be shot on location in Los Angeles, New York, Georgia and Las Vegas and will follow the life and  legacy of Shakur, who was shot to death in 1996. The biopic, which is curently being cast, will include his imprisonment and prolific, controversial time at Death Row Records, where he was steeped in the East coast/West coast rap war. In a statement, the late rapper’s mother, Afeni Shakur-Davis (who is serving as executive producer) said, “I am confident that Morgan Creek will stay true to the common goal we share of depicting Tupac’s life in a way that will allow the world to see the authenticity of his artistry, his hopes, and his life goals".

FILM/ "SOCIAL" & "KING'S" TOPS LONDON CRIX AWARDS: "The Social Network" and "The King's Speech" have dominated this year's London Film Critics' Circle awards. "Social" won 4 prizes, including film of the year, while "King's" won 3, among them a best actor award for Oscar hopeful Colin Firth. "The King's Speech" was also named British film of the year at the event, where its director Tom Hooper was also recognized. "The Social Network's" other awards went to its director David Fincher, its screenwriter Aaron Sorkin and cast member Andrew Garfield, named best British actor in a supporting role. Mike Leigh's "Another Year," which had received 4 nominations, came away with a single prize after Lesley Manville won British actress of the year. Olivia Williams was named best British actress in a supporting role for Roman Polanski's political thriller "The Ghost". Actress of the year went to Annette Bening for her role in "The Kids are All Right," while Christian Bale won British actor of the year for "The Fighter". TV/ PEGGY REA DIES AT 89: Peggy Rea, a veteran TV actress who played Brett Butler's mother-in-law on the ABC sitcom "Grace Under Fire," died February 5 of congestive heart failure at her home in Toluca Lake, California. She was 89. Rea also was a regular on such series as "The Waltons" (as Olivia Walton's cousin Rose Burton), "The Dukes of Hazzard" (as the man-chasing Lulu Hogg) and "Step by Step" (as Ivy Baker, the mother of Suzanne Somers' character). The Los Angeles native began her TV career in the 1960s as a member of Red Skelton's stock company. She also appeared on such series as "I Love Lucy;" "Have Gun, Will Travel;" "Bonanza;"" Gunsmoke" and many more. Rea's film credits include "Cold Turkey" (1971) and "Made in America" (1993).
