AVIATION/ ANZ 777 LANDS AT WELLINGTON

AIR NEW ZEALAND's new Boeing 777-300ER landed on Wellington Airport's short runway this morning. At 74 metres long, the plane is the longest aircraft to land at the Airport. It only had the Pilots and essential crew onboard to keep its weight down and allow it to safely land and take off from a runway used for aircraft less than half its size. The Air New Zealand Chief Pilot said the crew had undergone special training for their one-off trip to Wellington. A select few frequent flyers and dignitaries were to be given a tour of the plane, which features new economy bed seats dubbed "cuddle class". Air New Zealand has 5 of the 338 seat planes on order, which will be used on long-haul services from Auckland.
