AVIATION/ SKY LOUNGE HAWKER CRASHES IN IRAQ

All 7 passengers and crew onboard a SKY LOUNGE Hawker 900XP were killed on Friday when it crashed shortly after takeoff from Sulaimaniyah, Iraq. According to media reports, moments after taking off at 5:45pm in a heavy snowstorm, the engine caught fire. The Pilots declared an emergency and attempted to return to the Airport, but went down shortly thereafter. The 4 Turkish passengers, along with the 2 Pilots and Flight Attendant, who were from Lebannon, were all killed. Iraqi authorities blamed the crash on a mechanical failure and said the weather was not a factor. This is the 1st accident involving the Hawker 900XP. Sky Lounge is based in Beirut, Lebanon.
