AVIATION/ TURBULENCE INJURES 4 ON JAL 767

4 people suffered serious injuries when a JAL Boeing 767 encountered severe turbulence near Honolulu, Hawaii, yesterday, February 10. Flight 74 was on International Service from Tokyo, Japan, to Honolulu, with 239 passengers and 11 crew members onboard. While enroute at 38000 feet about 162 miles West of Honolulu, and just as they were about to begin their descent, the 767 encountered the severe turbulence. The crew continued on to make a safe emergency landing in Honolulu 25 minutes later. In a statement, the FAA said 4 people, 1 of whom was a Flight Attendant, suffered serious injuries. According to one media reports, at least 2 of those injured suffered fractures. An investigation has been launched by both US and Japanese officials.
