WORLD NEWS/ ITS NOW A TRIO OF HURRICANES
Tropical Storm Karl was upgraded to a Hurricane late this morning after crossing over the Yucatan yesterday and emerging in the warm waters of the southern Gulf of Mexico this morning. Meanwhile the large and powerful Hurricane Igor is moving slowly towards Bermuda and Hurricane Julia has rapidly weakened as she approaches cooler waters. Karl is forecast intensify into a Category 2 hurricane before making landfall between Tampico and Vercruz, Mexico, tomorrow morning. Hurricane Karl is currently located 310 miles E/SE of Tuxpan, Mexico, and is moving W at 11mph. Winds are at 75mph, with gusts to 90mph. Hurricane and Tropical Storm Warnings have been issued of the Gulf Coast region of Mexico. The powerful Category 4 Hurricane Igor has completed an eyewall replacement cycle early this morning, and has been intensifying. The storm is forecast to pass over or very near to Bermuda, late on Sunday or early Monday morning, as a Category 2 or 3 Hurricane. Large swells from Igor have arrived in the Northern Lesser Antilles Islands and Puerto Rico, and will spread E over the next few days. By Saturday, much of the East Coast from Northern Florida to Cape Cod Massachusetts can expect waves of 10 to 13 feet, causing dangerous rip currents and significant beach erosion. Hurricane Igor is currently located 910 miles S/SE of Bermuda and is moving NW at 6mph Winds are at 145mph, with gusts to 165mph. Futher out in the Atlantic, Hurricane Julia, has entered cooler waters is now on a rapid decline in intensity. Julia, which was a Category 4 Hurricane yesterday, should weaken into a Tropical Storm late tomorrow. Hurricane Juila is currently located 1280 miles SW of The Azores, and is moving W/NW at 25mph. Winds are at 100mph, with gusts to 120mph. Julia poses no threat to land.
