FILM/ NEW "PARANORMAL" POSTER OUT: The 1st official poster for the upcoming "Paranormal Activity 2" has been released. Although the poster looks familiar, What could that dog be barking at? Could it have something to do with the fact that our little baby friend there doesn't have a reflection in the mirror? Possibly. The film will be released on October 22.

TV/ WHITFIELD BOWS OUT OF "SPARTACUS" AS CANCER COMES BACK: "Spartacus: Blood and Sand" star Andy Whitfield will not be returning to the 2nd season of the Starz series, the network announced yesterday. The actor, who was in remission after being diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin lymphoma in March, has been advised to resume “aggressive treatment” for the disease. “It’s with a deep sense of disappointment that I must step aside from such an exceptional project as "Spartacus" and all the wonderful people involved,” Whitfield said in the release. “It seems that it is time for myself and my family to embark on another extraordinary journey. Thank you for the support so far.” The series had delayed production in the spring while Whitfield underwent treatment; the actor had been training for the 2nd season after he was declared cancer-free in June. At this point, the network has not made any decisions regarding the series’ future. "Spartacus: Gods of the Arena," a prequel to the series, will still air as scheduled in January 2011.

TV/ "ATWT" ENDS LONGTIME RUN: Yesterday was the 13,858th and final episode of the venerable CBS soap opera, "As The World Turns, which was canceled last year because of low ratings. Procter& Gamble, the long time sponser of the soap, said that they made efforts to relocate the show to another network, syndication, and even online. Those efforts failed and the show ended yesterday. As the show wrapped up, viewers learned that Bob retired from the hospital, Casey took off to law school, and Barbara dissolved her partnership with Paul. Janet asked Jack to be Lorenzo’s godfather, Carly looked forward to having another baby, Chris proposed to Katie, and Lucinda and John reunited. Everyone went on to live happily ever after!

THEATRE/ "GHOST" TO OPEND IN LONDON IN JUNE 2011: "Ghost the Musical" has announced that it will begin performances at London's West End Piccadilly Theatre June 22, 2011, prior to an official opening July 19. Before opening in the West Edn, it will play a 7 week out-of-town tryout run at Manchester's Opera House. Casting has not yet been announced, however media reports from London say that Sharon D. Clark will play the role of Oda Mae Brown, the bogus medium that was played by Whoopi Goldberg in the 1990 film. "Ghost the Musical" is directed by Matthew Warchus, and has new music and lyrics by Grammy Award winners Dave Stewart and Glen Ballard, and the score will also feature the Righteous Brothers classic "Unchained Melody" for the film's iconic love scene set at a potter's wheel. Oscar-winning Bruce Joel Rubin will adapt his original screenplay for the stage and write lyrics. In press notes, "Ghost" is described as a "timeless story about love. It revolves around Sam, who is is trapped as a ghost between this world and the next trying to communicate with his girlfriend Molly through a phoney psychic in the hope of saving her from his murderer.

THEATRE/ KIDMAN TO RETURN TO BROADWAY: Nicole Kidman is returning to Broadway. The Academy Award-winning actress will star in a revival of Tennessee Williams' "Sweet Bird of Youth" in fall 2011. She last appeared on the Great White Way in the 1998-99 production of David Hare's "The Blue Room." In "Sweet Bird," she'll play Alexandra Del Lago, an often-drunk movie star who is past her prime and hangs out with a gigolo named Chance Wayne. The actor to play Wayne has not yet been announced. The show was last produced on Broadway in 1975, and starred Christopher Walken. Paul Newman starred in the original 1959 Broadway production and a film version.
