AVIATION/ NTSB UPDATES ON JETBLUE FL262
The NTSB has issued its Preliminary Report into an incident involving a JETBLUE A320 at Sacramento, California, on August 26, 2010. On that date, Flight 262 was on Domestic Service from Long Beach, California, to Sacramento, with 86 passengers and 5 crew members onboard. The A320 landed hard in Sacramento, with a "loud thump," followed by all 4 main gear tires deflating. Sparks and flames were then seen from the undercarriage and the Captain ordered an evacuation. Emergency Services responded and cooled the undercarriage. In their Preliminary Report, the NTSB said that the park brake had become engaged during the approach, when the aircraft was at 5100 feet, and remained engaged throughout the landing. The First Officer was Pilot flying and both crew did not notice any anomaly, all indications were normal The crew did not notice any abnormal indication or warning regarding the brakes. The NTSB also said 7 passengers received minor injuries in the evacuation process. At the time of the incident, the FAA has reported that 4 passengers had been injured. The investigation continues.
