THEATRE/ "YANK!" HEADING TO BROADWAY: The new musical "Yank!," which was recently extended through April 4 at The York Theatre Company, is heading to Broadway. Co-producers will bring the acclaimed musical to Broadway during the 2010-11 season. In a statement, the co-producers said: "While "Yank!" is not an overtly political musical, we’ve been mindful of 'don’t ask, don’t tell' moving right to the center of the national discussion. There has never been a better time on Broadway for a musical wartime love story that just happens to involve 2 G.I.’s." Press notes describe "Yank!": "The show tells the story of Stu, a scared Midwestern kid who gets drafted for World War II in 1943, and becomes a photographer for Yank Magazine, the journal 'for and by the servicemen.' "Yank!" has a score that pays homage to the 1940s and explores what it means to be a man, and what it is to fall in love and struggle." Neither casting nor theatre has been announced.
