AVIATION/ BRISTOW SUPER PUMA DITCHES OFF NIGERIA
All 18 passengers and crew onboard a BRISTOW HELICOPTERS NIGERIA AS332L Super Puma are safe, after the helicopter went down this afternoon in the waters off the coast of Nigeria. According to media reports, the Super Puma, with 2 Pilots onboard, was transporting 16 passengers to Seabird Exploration's Kondor Explorer, a seismic research vessel. At 12:10pm, the Pilots radioed that they were doing to ditch, for reasons unknown. Rescue boats launched from the vessel reached the helicopter within minutes and all 18 people were rescued. Nigerian media reports that there were no injuries. In a brief statement, SeaBird said that the company has launched an investigation into the incident, adding the cause is not yet clear.
