At least 3 people onboard an SA AIRLINK Embraer 135 were injured this morning, when the jet aquaplaned off the runway upon landing at George, South Africa. SA Airlink Flight 8625 was on Domestic Service from Cape Town to George, with 30 passengers and 3 crew members onboard, when the incident took place. According to media reports, it was raining when the aircraft touched down at 11:06am, and witnesses said that the jet aquaplaned right off the runway. Airport officials said that the Embraer went thru the lights at the end of the runway, then thru a fence, before coming to a stop on an adjacent road, near the N2 highway. Emergency Services responded immediately and reported 3 injuries, all of them minor. The Captain is believed to be one of those injured. The aircraft itself suffered substantial damages, and is currently undergoing examination in situ. South African aviation officials will investigate the accident, which is the 3rd accident for SA Airlink this year.
