AVIATION/ RYANAIR 737 SLIDES OFF PRESTWICK RUNWAY

No one was injured when a RYANAIR Boeing 737 went off the runway upon landing at Prestwick, England, early this morning. Flight 772 was on International Service from Dublin, Ireland, to Prestwick, with 129 passengers and 6 crew members onboard, when the incident took place around 9:00am. The 737 reportedly slid on ice on the runway, and skidded into a grassy verge. Emergency Services responded and assisted in off-loading all passengers. UK media reported that passengers said that the landing was normal, but that the aircraft did not slow down normally. They also said that the runway was a "sheet of ice" after they left the 737. The aircraft will undergo inspection to determine if any damage was sustained. UK Aviation officials have opened an investigation into the incident.
