AVIATION/ SEVERE TURBULENCE ROCKS UNITED A319

A Flight Attendant onboard a UNITED AIRLINES Airbus A319 was injured early yesterday, when the aircraft was rocked by severe turbulence while overhead Missouri. Flight 273 was on Domestic Service from Phoenix, Arizona, to Chicago OHare, and was enroute around 4:00am at 35000 feet, near Kirksville, Missouri, when it encountered the severe turbulence. The crew continued on to OHare, where they landed without incident about 40 minutes later. The FAA reported that the F/A was injured, however the extent of injuries was not revealed. No details were released on duration of turbulence or any evasive action taken by the crew, however radar does show the aircraft descending down to 30000 feet around the time the turbulence hit the aircraft. The FAA is investigating.
