AVIATION/ NORTH SLOPE BEECH CRASHES IN ALASKA

All 3 crew members onboard a NORTH SLOPE BOROUGH MEDAVAC Beechcraft 200 Super King Air were injured, when the aircraft crashed into snow covered terrain near Atqasuk, Alaska, early yesterday morning. According to media reports, the Beech crashed about 2:30am, while on approach to the Atqasuk Airport, about 7 miles west of the village. Reports say the Pilot contacted ATC before going down, reporting that they were experiencing icing of the aircraft. The Beech, which suffered substantial daamge, was on a medevac flight to the village of 230 people, some 60 miles SW of Barrow. The 3 crew members were transported to Barrow, where they were treated and released for minor injuries. The NTSB and FAA are investigating.
