WORLD NEWS/ TS COLIN RAPIDLY MOVING IN ATLANTIC

Tropical Depression 4 has slowly strengthened in the Atlantic Ocean over the last 24 hours and was upgraded to Tropical Storm Colin this morning. The storm is moving rapidly to the W and has showed little change in strength over the last 6 hours. Colin is a very small storm, and its Tropical Storm force winds extend out just 30 miles from the center. TS Colin is currently located 840 miles E/SE of the Leeward Islands and is moving W at 24mph. Winds are at 40mph, with gusts to 50mph. Current forecasts suggest that Colin will remain fairly stable in intensity over the next 2 to 3 days as it continues to move rapidly to the W/NW. Wind shear is present and is forecast to prevent Colin from reaching Hurricane status. Hurricane Hunters are scheduled to fly into Colin tomorrow. As of now, Colin is now threat to land, however, the National Hurricane Center has advised residents of the Leeward Islands and the Virgin Islands to monitor the progress of the storm.
