MY HEART IS HEAVY AT THE LOSS OF A BEST FRIEND:
Cheri, aka Re Re the gentle cat, passed away today, January 6, at the age of 10 after a long illness. I know its a cliche, but in this case its true, Cheri was a very good cat. Its all the more surprising, considering how rough her start in life was. She survived her serious injuries, and grew into a shy, yet very gentle, adult. She loved her food, she loved her blanket, and she loved to be brushed. She never once showed her claws or tried to attack. She was all peace and quiet. Although her injuries as a young cat had robbed her of the ability to Meow, if she wanted something she had learned to warble a plaintive plea. Yet, it was rare that she pleaded for anything, as she appeared contented every day of her short life. She asked for so little, and gave so very much. Cheri is survived by her grieving family, including new step-sister Pippin. She was preceded in death in the last year by her step-siblings Alex and Sophia. We shall miss you Re, every day of the rest of our lives.
