AVIATION/ UNRULY PAX'S PARTY ON AIR BERLIN A330


*German police arrested 8 Dutch passengers after an AIR BERLIN A330 landed in Dusseldorf, Germany, on Wednesday, January 6. Flight 7151 was on International Service from Bangkok, Thailand, to Dusseldorf, when about 2 hours prior to arrival, the Captain radioed ATC and requested that police meet the aircraft. The Captain said that 8 passengers, male & female between the ages of 19 and 24, were disrupting the flight. All 8 were said to be jumping over seats, being abusive to cabin crew, and were believed to have been consuming drugs. Upon arrival in Dusseldorf, all 8 were arrested. A search of their luggage found an unknown amount of the drug Rohypnol. The 8 men and women were charged with interfering with a flight crew, and all 8 were charged wtih possession of illegal drugs. After paying a collective fine of 1600 euros, all 8 were released and approved to fly home. The passengers face a trial, the date of which has yet been established.
